Participants can bring your laptop, notebook, or any writing project you'd like to work on.

For anyone engaged in writing. From academic researchers and students to independent writers and creatives who wish to develop a consistent writing practice in community.

Join the Curious Monkey Film Club for an evening of cinematic charm!

We’re inviting curious and passionate film lovers to join us for a screening of The 39 Steps (1935), Alfred Hitchcock’s thrilling piece that helped define the modern spy film. Follow an ordinary man as he’s drawn into a tense chase.With this film, we step into the pulse of the 1930s — a cinematic journey through an age of mounting tension, modern speed, and shadowy intrigue, seen through the lens of early Hitchcock.

Whether you're revisiting this timeless gem or watching it for the first time, you're in for a treat.

Since 2020, Curious Monkey Film Club has been a gathering place for thoughtful film fans with an eye for detail and a love of storytelling. We don’t just watch films - we unpack them, explore them, and ask what they still have to say to us today. Our selections span genres and eras, chosen not by popularity but for their enduring craft and intrigue.

6:30pm - Arrive early to grab a drink, browse the bookshore and line up for entry.

7:00pm - Entrance opens and film starts promptly. Limited seats. First come, first serve!

This is a donation-based event to support the continuation of the Curious Monkey Film Club.&nbsp;Registration is free, but mandatory.&nbsp;The space has limited capacity, registration does not guarantee entry. Queer Book Club

What books will we be reading?

Each Saturday morning session features carefully chosen books, read aloud in an engaging and interactive way. Expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere where little listeners can explore stories, discover new characters, and spark their love for reading. Please note, the event will be held in English.

This event is free to attend, but we ask that you&nbsp;<a href="https://www.eventbrite.pt/e/kids-storytime-good-company-bookstore-tickets-1977905429383">register free tickets in advance</a>&nbsp;so we know how many little bookworms to expect. Please select how many adults and children will be attending. If you can't make it, please ensure you cancel your ticket so others can join.

We'll pick two of our favorite children's books that are available in our bookstore. If you have any suggestions, let us know on the day!

Nothing at all - just bring your curiosity and love for stories! If your child has a favorite stuffed animal or cozy blanket, they’re welcome to bring it along for extra comfort.

Whether they’re early readers, book lovers, or just beginning their literary journey. We welcome parents, caregivers and children of all ages to join us and enjoy the experience together. Please note, the event will be held in English.

Kids Storytime

Here at Good Company, we are passionate about translations, especially of Lusophone authors. That's why we wanted to start this book club, to further our community by exploring the multicultural literary traditions, and the beauty of the Portuguese language.

This month, we'll be reading <a href="https://goodcompanybooks.com/shop/product/crooked-plow/41340304261206">Crooked Plow by Itamar Viera Junior.</a>

About the Book: Deep in Brazil's neglected Bahia hinterland, two sisters find an ancient knife beneath their grandmother's bed and, momentarily mystified by its power, decide to taste its metal. The shuddering violence that follows marks their lives and binds them together forever.

Heralded as a new masterpiece and the most important Brazilian novel of this century, this fascinating and gripping story about the lives of subsistence farmers in the Brazil's poorest region, three generations after the abolition of slavery in that country is at once fantastic and realist, covering themes of family, spirituality, slavery and its aftermath and political struggle.

Lusophone Book Club

Whether you're here to discover new music, unwind after a long day, or simply enjoy good company, this promises to be a special night.

With a glass of wine in hand, settle in and let two incredible artists transport you with their heartfelt performances.

<a target="_blank" href="https://www.instagram.com/caoscoast/">Mariana Costa</a> is a Portuguese singer-songwriter and independent artist. Drawing inspiration from folk, bossa nova, and acoustic storytelling, Mariana’s music is calm and intimate, marked by soulful melodies. Whether performing solo or collaborating with other musicians, Mariana creates an atmosphere of warmth and connection, often mixing her original compositions with timeless songs she holds dear.

<a target="_blank" href="https://www.instagram.com/conor.riordan/">Shortsleeve Conor </a>- Shortsleeve Conor plays folk songs for the broken-hearted, the half-cut and the hopeful. Scottish roots, Irish soul and a five-string banjo. Country, trad, wit and the odd love story gone wrong. Come for the tunes, stay&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;craic.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/alamo_sun/">Crockett Bodelson</a> - This event will be extra special, as we'll be joined by Crockett Bodelson, an Artist and Musician whose artwork is being exhibited in the events space. He will be available to chat about the show on the night, and may well surprise us with a song or two too to celebrate the last week of his exhibition "Monte do Horizonte."

7.00pm - Doors open. Grab a drink and snack and say hello before the music starts.

7.15pm - The music will begin. Chairs are first come, first serve but we also have plenty of standing and floor seating space available. Two artists will perform with a short interval in between.

Entrance for the concert is €5. Tickets are limited, and often our shows sell out in advance, so we strongly suggest purchasing tickets beforehand.
