Join us with your kids for a creative and fun Art Workshops on Sunday morning at Good Company Bookstore!

Our workshop arises as an extension of the reading sessions that take place on Saturday mornings at Good Company Bookstore. The objective is to give body to the inner world of each participant, whether from the stories heard the previous week or from the need to transpose their own fantasies into shapes, colors, and textures.

Stencil is a practical tool that allows the creation of compositions in a simple and intuitive way, while also helping children develop their drawing skills. In this workshop, we will create posters using geometric shapes and imagine how we can articulate various basic forms in order to compose a key idea.

Participants will be able to cut out their own stencils or work with pre-made templates to create a visual message.

The event has a cost of 7 euros (+tax). We ask that you make the reservation in advance so we can prepare enough materials for all the little artists. Please select how many adults will accompany. If you cannot attend, we ask that you cancel your ticket so that others can join.

Each session is unique and offers a structured script, designed to guide each child in the exploration of the contours of their imagination. We are going to discover different themes, techniques, and supports in each encounter. Here, we demystify the idea of "not having a knack" or "I can't" and we celebrate experimentation as an essential part of the process.

Nothing special, just bring your curiosity! We provide all the necessary materials to materialize ideas into physical creations.

This workshop is for all children who want to expand their creative horizons through art. So that they feel safe and integrated, parents and caregivers are welcome to accompany the sessions.

The project is open to suggestions! Our hostess, Margarida, will be attentive to the tastes and proposals of each child, in order to shape her offer to our little artists.

To make it even more special, you’ll also receive a small notebook, perfect for jotting down notes, reflections, or thoughts about what you’re reading. It’s a lovely way to combine both, protecting your book while keeping a space for your ideas.

Rita&nbsp;is the founder of&nbsp;@MarsClub.Lx, a project that connects strangers through travel experiences and events in Lisbon. Its purpose is to stay curious, creative, and together. She will be guiding this workshop. Rita studied arts and creativity has been part of her life since she was a child, and the more she grows, the more connected she feels to it. Book Cover Workshop with Rita Soares 

Join us for an interactive and fun reading for your kids on Saturday morning!

Our Saturday morning session features carefully chosen books, read aloud in an engaging and interactive way. Expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere where little listeners can explore stories, discover new characters, and spark their love for reading.

This event is hosted in English, but all kids are welcomed! Our host Lia speaks Portuguese too!

This event is free to attend, but we ask that you register your free tickets in advance so we know how many little bookworms to expect. Please select how many adults will be attending. If you can't make it, please ensure you cancel your ticket so others can join.

We'll pick two of our favorite children's books that are available in our bookstore. If you have any suggestions, let us know on the day!

Nothing at all - just bring your curiosity and love for stories! If your child has a favorite stuffed animal or cozy blanket, they’re welcome to bring it along for extra comfort.

Kids Storytime 

Join us at Good Company Bookstore for an Art Exhibition Opening, featuring the work of an artist Anna Lubbinge!

This body of work emerges from a formative journey to the Amazon in 2025, where I was confronted with the depth of our disconnection from the natural world. It revealed not only how much remains unknown, but how much has been forgotten. Within Western frameworks, nature is often positioned as something external, an “other”, a separation that echoes broader dualistic thinking. I am interested in exploring interconnectedness as an alternative: a way of understanding human and non-human life as fundamentally entangled. Through painting, I seek to question these perspectives and imagine more integrated ways of relating. My visual language draws on tropical vegetation: its intensity of color, rhythm, and vitality, contrasting with the landscapes of my upbringing in the Netherlands. This attraction is both aesthetic and intuitive: a search for connection that exists beyond language, grounded in sensation, presence, and a sense of belonging. My compositions emphasize color, rhythm, and atmosphere, creating spaces that invite both visual immersion and quiet reflection.

Anna Lubbinge&nbsp;(b. 2000) is a Dutch artist working primarily in painting. Her practice explores the space between imagination and lived reality through invented imagery that merges everydaylandscapes with constructed, dreamlike environments. She graduated in Fine Arts from Breda (NL) in 2023 and is currently based in Lisbon. Lubbinge has presented a solo exhibition in Lisbon and participated in group exhibitions in Breda and Eindhoven. She has also undertaken a residency in Alte (Algarve) and contributed to art-focused ecological projects in Brazil and Peru. Her work draws on the visual language of tropical ecosystems, depicting dense vegetation in dialogue with geometric, urban forms. Recent works extend into sculptural framing, incorporating techniques such as macramé, knotting, and jewelry making.

Join this exciting night of storytelling with Saleem Haddad presenting his short film “Marco” in Good Company Bookstore!

Film Screening and Q&amp;A in English.

Storytelling in English and Portuguese.

We invite you to&nbsp;Good Company Bookstore, a place where countless stories reside every day - among which yours may also be heard this evening.

In the first part of the event, Saleem Haddad, author and filmmaker, will present his short film&nbsp;Marco, followed by a short talk and a Q&amp;A.

Afterwards, we will open the space for 5 storytellers to tell their stories, all under the title&nbsp;Stories of Queer Becoming Away from Home.&nbsp;We are looking for personal, true stories about what it means to move away from home and through the world as queer. Whether across countries, cities, languages, or identities. These might be stories of arrival and departure, desire and displacement, love and loneliness, finding or losing chosen family, survival and reinvention, or the small, unexpected moments that made a new city feel like yours (or never quite did). We are looking to showcase stories that are specific, honest, and grounded in a moment that changed you.

About&nbsp;Marco&nbsp;short film

Omar lives a lonely life in London. He's been in the city for over a decade, and spends his days working and ignoring his mother's phone calls. One evening, he reaches for his phone and invites over a young man that catches his eye: a Spanish sex worker called Marco. But as their night together progresses, Omar gets much more than he paid for. A story about alienation and the search for intimacy in modern-day London, as well as a meditation on the pain of loss and exile,&nbsp;Marco&nbsp;is also a universal story of that most simple and intangible of desires: the need for human connection and the subtle, radical changes it can bring.

Marco&nbsp;was shot in London in April 2018, and premiered at BFI Flare in March 2019. The film was nominated for an Iris Prize for ‘Best British Short’.

Storytelling Night: Stories of Queer Becoming Away from Home

Join the Curious Monkey Film Club for an evening of cinematic charm!

For this Pride Month screening, we are briefly pausing our exploration of 1930s cinema to present&nbsp;Suddenly, Last Summer&nbsp;(1959), Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s haunting adaptation of the Tennessee Williams play. Set between memory, trauma, and secrecy, the film follows Elizabeth Taylor's character as she is pressured to conceal the truth surrounding the mysterious death of a close relative during the previous summer.

This screening highlights a key moment in Hollywood filmmaking, when queer themes could rarely be addressed openly and instead emerged through suggestion, coded dialogue, and psychological tension.

Whether you're revisiting this timeless gem or watching it for the first time, you're in for a treat.

Since 2020, Curious Monkey Film Club has been a gathering place for thoughtful film fans with an eye for detail and a love of storytelling. We don’t just watch films - we unpack them, explore them, and ask what they still have to say to us today. Our selections span genres and eras, chosen not by popularity but for their enduring craft and intrigue.

Join our Cookbook Club where we create a relaxed, welcoming way to discover new dishes, learn from one another, and celebrate a shared love of cooking and books!

Each month, we gather to explore a new cookbook together. Once the book is chosen, every participant selects a recipe that catches their interest and prepares it at home. You’re encouraged to make the recipe by yourself!

Feel free to add your personal touches, substitutions, or creative twists.

When we meet, everyone brings their dish to share, creating a table full of diverse interpretations from the same cookbook. Our gatherings take place at Good Company Bookstore, where we enjoy the food, exchange ideas, and talk about what worked (or didn’t!) in each recipe.

From there, I moved to London, continuing my work in Michelin-starred kitchens for more than six years. Later, I co-opened a café in Paris with my sister, gradually transitioned from pastry chef to barista. Today, I'm the café manager at Good Company, where I collaborate on menu development, bake cakes in the mornings, and prepare coffees for our guests.

Event is free to attend but registration and filling out the Recipes Sheet (see below) is obligatory to participate.&nbsp;

After you sign up you will recieve via email a Recipes Sheet for our Cookbook Club. Please add your name, chosen recipe, and any dietary restrictions in the appropriate section (Appetisers, Mains/Sides, or Desserts).

This system helps us avoid duplicate dishes, ensures a well-balanced spread across the table, and allows everyone to be aware of any dietary restrictions or allergies so that we can all enjoy the meal safely and comfortably.

Each category has 5 slots, which will be filled as people sign up. Once a section is full, please choose another category.

By Metro:&nbsp;We're situated a 5-minute walk from the Campo Pequeno metro (Yellow line) and a 10-minute walk from the Alameda metro (Green &amp; Red lines).

By Bus:&nbsp;There are many convenient bus options 2 blocks away from us on Avenida República, with the closest stop to our store being Campo Pequeno-Av. Republica.
