Live Music Concert with Carolina Zingler & Sanaea Bubber

Join us with your kids for a creative and fun Art Workshops on Sunday morning at Good Company Bookstore!

Our workshop arises as an extension of the reading sessions that take place on Saturday mornings at Good Company Bookstore. The objective is to give body to the inner world of each participant, whether from the stories heard the previous week or from the need to transpose their own fantasies into shapes, colors, and textures.

Using simple mechanisms like joints, pivot points, and levers, each participant will build their own articulated cardboard puppet. The workshop merges the creative process with basic principles of mechanics, offering a hands-on exploration of how different systems can generate movement.

The event has a cost of 7 euros (+tax). We ask that you make the reservation in advance so we can prepare enough materials for all the little artists. Please select how many adults will accompany. If you cannot attend, we ask that you cancel your ticket so that others can join.

Each session is unique and offers a structured script, designed to guide each child in the exploration of the contours of their imagination. We are going to discover different themes, techniques, and supports in each encounter. Here, we demystify the idea of "not having a knack" or "I can't" and we celebrate experimentation as an essential part of the process.

Nothing special, just bring your curiosity! We provide all the necessary materials to materialize ideas into physical creations.

This workshop is not recommended for children under 6 years old, as the exercise requires fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for handling the threads.

The project is open to suggestions! Our hostess, Margarida, will be attentive to the tastes and proposals of each child, in order to shape her offer to our little artists.

Kids Art Workshop "Cardboard Engineering"

Come discover how a few words and a few lines can tell a story that neither could tell alone, with the help of illustrator Marta Condez!

This workshop is an introduction to the narrative power of combining text and images. Together, we will write down loose fragments - things we’ve heard, questions we’re pondering - and draw others, like a scene from a dream or a moment that unsettled us, allowing these two worlds to collide.

Meaning rarely comes from a phrase and a drawing matching perfectly. Instead, it lives in the gap between them: the unexpected space where a sentence and an image don't quite agree, giving rise to a story. Through a series of playful exercises, we will compose single-image stories where a phrase and a drawing sit side by side, each altering how we interpret the other.

This workshop is for anyone curious about drawing or writing, regardless of experience. If you like the idea of playing with both mediums simultaneously to see what emerges, this is for you.

Bring any pen or pencil you feel comfortable using, but above all, bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Paper, drawing tools, writing materials, and a drink are all included in the ticket price.

The workshop is hosted by Marta Condez, an illustrator and comic artist who uses her work to explore emotion, affection, and nuance. From an early age, Marta developed a fascination with how images convey ideas and stories - a passion that evolved into a dedicated sequential art practice.

Tickets are €15 (+tax) and include all materials, hands-on guidance and support throughout the process from your host, and one drink from the bar during the event. Space is limited!

Visual Storytelling Workshop

Join us for an evening of books, conversation, and community as we dive into queer literature!

Book of the Month: Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth

About the Book: It's the early 1990s, and in the Irish village of Crossmore, Lucy feels out of place. Despite her fierce friendships, she's always felt this way, and the conventional path of marriage and motherhood doesn't appeal to her at all. Not even with handsome and doting Martin, her closest childhood friend.

Lucy begins to make sense of herself during a long hot summer, when a spark with her school friend Susannah escalates to an all-consuming infatuation, and, very quickly, to a desperate and devastating love. Fearful of rejection from her small and conservative community, Lucy begins living a double life, hiding the most honest parts of herself in stolen moments with Susannah. But with the end of school and the opportunity to leave Crossmore looming, Lucy must choose between two places, two people and two futures, each as terrifying as the other.

But only one can offer her real happiness. Sunburn is an astute and tender portrayal of first love, adolescent anxiety and the realities of growing up in a small town where tradition holds people tightly in its grasp.

Kids Storytime

Join our Cookbook Club where we create a relaxed space to discover new dishes, learn from one another, and share our love for cooking!

Each month, we gather to explore a new cookbook together. Once the book is chosen, every participant selects a recipe that catches their interest and prepares it at home. You’re encouraged to make the recipe by yourself!

Feel free to add your personal touches, substitutions, or creative twists.

When we meet, everyone brings their dish to share, creating a table full of diverse interpretations from the same cookbook. Our gatherings take place at Good Company Bookstore, where we enjoy the food, exchange ideas, and talk about what worked (or didn’t!) in each recipe.

Cookbook of the month: Sweet by Yotam Ottolenghi and Helen Goh

This talk explores the evolution of still life in Western art, and asks why the genre has become such a powerful mirror of society.

Still life may be the art historical genre we take least seriously. Yet few genres tell us more about what we desire, what we value, what we fear, and how we want others to see us.

Through a deliberately partial and biased selection of works, we will look again at apparently innocent paintings and discover that nothing is quite as innocent as it seems.

I’m Jeanne, an international art teacher, designer, and art historian. I’ve lived in eight countries, and I love sharing creative ideas and inspirations in a warm, accessible way.

Participants are welcome to bring whatever helps them absorb the talk - such as notebooks, pens, or relevant books.

Absolutely everyone: curious art enthusiasts, artists, scholars, or anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of art in a warm, accessible setting

18:30 - Grab a drink, find your seat and mingle!

Every participant has 1 beverage included in their ticket. Enjoy a glass of wine or sip some hot chocolate while learning about art!

Spaces are limited, grab your ticket quickly!

Book of the month: Saving the Fire by Itamar Vieira Junior

About the Book: The highly anticipated new novel from the author of the Booker-shortlisted international sensation Crooked Plow.

Moisés lives with his father and sister in a Brazilian village dominated by the local monastery. His mother having died mysteriously, Moisés is raised by his sister Luzia, a young woman rumored to be a witch and despised by the villagers. Luzia seeks protection from the monastery, where she gets a job as a laundress and where Moisés receives an education. In time, something triggers her brother to rebel and run away from home. Luzia finds herself wholly alone, fighting for the family's land and for her life. Unknown to her, Moisés, too, has put himself on the front line of an ancient conflict between colonial oppressors and the dispossessed.

Epic and lyrical, with the power to enchant as well as outrage, Saving the Firepresents the ghosts of a family's past lost amid the shadows of a nation's history. Masterfully, Itamar Vieira Junior blends the intimate journeys of his characters with faithfully rendered elements of Brazilian life in a world where the scars of colonialism still ache.
