About the Book:&nbsp;Winner of the 2026 International Booker Prize. Winner of the 2024 National Book Award for Translated Literature. Winner of the 2024 Baifang Schell Book Prize for Outstanding Translated Literature from Chinese Language.Disguised as a translation of a rediscovered text by a Japanese writer,&nbsp;Taiwan Travelogueis a bittersweet story of love between two women, nested in an artful exploration of language, history and power. Set in May 1938, the young novelist Aoyama Chizuko sails from Japan to Taiwan where her interpreter proffers tantalising glimpses of island life and helps her to taste as much of cuisine as her larger-than-life appetite can bear.

With a glass of wine in hand, settle in and let two incredible artists transport you with their heartfelt performances.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/dear__dree/" target="_blank">dear dree</a>&nbsp;is a French folk artist, writing songs that feel both intimate and familiar. Shaped by her childhood in California, she composes in both French and English, intertwining the two languages naturally. Her music explores raw emotions and personal reflections, always seeking to resonate sincerely with the listener.Through her music, dear dree builds a bridge between her two lives, between two continents, where languages and imaginations echo each other. She recently released her first EP “insert heart here”, a six-track collection that reads like the pages of a half-open diary.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/hugoshuw/" target="_blank">Hugo Simões</a>.&nbsp;Born in the Azores islands, Hugo came up through gigging in the burgeoning folk music scene in Lisbon, sharing his songs one crowded basement at a time. Since then, he’s been at work writing, recording and performing throughout Europe. It’s between places that his songs lie: merging anglophone traditions with his own sensibility, putting an ear for melody together with his background as a poet.

In 2025 he released his first single "To Keep Away the Blues" on local label Cheap Wine Records, recently followed by "My Thoughts Know No Bounds", which has had airplay on national public radio back home and made the rounds abroad. Both songs are leading up to his debut album currently in the works.

6.45pm - Doors open. Grab a drink and snack and say hello before the music starts.

7.15pm - The music will begin. Chairs are first come, first serve but we also have plenty of standing and floor seating space available. Two artists will perform with a short interval in between.

9.00pm - The show should be finished.

Live Music Concert with dear dree & Hugo Simões

Join us for a guided wine tasting with Who's Wine? in Good Company Bookstore!

On July 24th, we’re giving the shelves a new narrator and handing our bar over to&nbsp;Who’s Wine?&nbsp;for an evening dedicated to the wines of Portugal’s Lisbon region.

These are bottles born between sea and hills, shaped by ocean winds, cool mornings, limestone soils, and salt carried inland. Wines with a sense of place, a strong opening, bright tension and endings that linger well beyond the final page.

Think of the tasting as a collection of Atlantic short stories: some crisp and direct, others layered, atmospheric and slightly wild. Every glass a new chapter, every vineyard a different setting, every bottle another way of reading the Lisbon coast.

No spoilers, but expect sea mist in the margins, minerality between the lines and a few very good plot twists.

Come browse the shelves. Stay for the footnotes. Read the Atlantic by the glass.

You are welcome to come at any time between 18:00 and 21:00!&nbsp;

Space is limited, so please reserve your spot! Tickets include a guided tasting plus snacks. Additional wines will be available to purchase by glass or bottle.

Wines from Lisbon: Stories written by the Atlantic

Join us for an interactive and fun reading for your kids on Saturday morning!

Our Saturday morning session features carefully chosen books, read aloud in an engaging and interactive way. Expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere where little listeners can explore stories, discover new characters, and spark their love for reading.

This event is hosted in English, but all kids are welcomed! Our host Lia speaks Portuguese too!

This event is free to attend, but we ask that you register your free tickets in advance so we know how many little bookworms to expect. Please select how many adults will be attending. If you can't make it, please ensure you cancel your ticket so others can join.

We'll pick two of our favorite children's books that are available in our bookstore. If you have any suggestions, let us know on the day!

Nothing at all - just bring your curiosity and love for stories! If your child has a favorite stuffed animal or cozy blanket, they’re welcome to bring it along for extra comfort.

Whether they’re early readers, book lovers, or just beginning their literary journey. We welcome parents, caregivers and children of all ages to join us and enjoy the experience together. Please note, the event will be held in English.

Junta-te a nós para uma noite de poesia portuguesa na Good Company Bookstore, com o nosso anfitrião, Bernardo Gramaxo!

Quer sejas poeta, amante de poesia ou simplesmente curioso, esta é uma oportunidade para partilhar palavras, ouvir e conectares-te com outros entusiastas da literatura.

A noite começará com algumas leituras de Bernardo antes de abrirmos o microfone para quem quiser partilhar a sua poesia num ambiente acolhedor e caloroso.

Este evento é para celebrar a poesia portuguesa, por isso, se quiseres atuar, prepara 1 ou 2 poemas em português.

Não és artista? Não há problema! És mais do que bem-vindo para assistir e apreciar as leituras como parte do público.

Este evento é para qualquer pessoa que goste de poesia - seja um poeta experiente, um aspirante a escritor ou simplesmente um entusiasta de poesia que gosta de ouvir spoken word.

Join us for the workshop with artist Lara Peres Rocha where you explore illustration of "Invisible Cities"!

An idea, a conversation, an image. An entire city, perhaps.

Over 2 hours, we'll read together from a chosen book or text, discuss the ideas present, and develop visual responses through drawing and illustration. We'll enter a translation process where word becomes image, as we explore our artistic side on the page.

The emphasis is on exchange of thoughts, materials, and ways of seeing. Participants are encouraged to share ideas with each other in a collaborative and open atmosphere.&nbsp;

Some materials will be available but you are invited to bring your favourites along.&nbsp;

No experience required, just curiosity to see what is and isn’t there, dancing inside the lines of a book. Bring a friend, select your drink of choice, and join us downstairs for some drawing.

I am a 25 year-old creative in love with the world and the people around me. I am extremely curious and invested in the small stories each of us live every day. I love finding magic in the mundane - grocery lists, the way we tie our shoelaces - the small things that make us unique. I find in these moments some of the biggest metaphors for life, and i use them to carry meaning through my illustration. I often reference Portuguese culture, from the landscapes of Lisbon, to the colourful and wonky nature of my images. I create dynamic illustrations that move across the page and speak to our emotions, using mixed-media

I love books, philosophy, knitting, and movement.

I’m looking forward to seeing where my pencil takes me next!
