With a glass of wine in hand, settle in and let two incredible local artists transport you with their heartfelt performances. Whether you're here to discover new music, unwind after a long week, or simply enjoy good company, this promises to be a special night.

JoLy Bmore: Baltimore born, Afro-Nomad. JoLy is a classically trained opera singer turned soul artist. She crafts captivating melodies with neo-soul influences, exploring themes of relationships and cultural identity. Her unique sound reflects her diverse experiences, ranging from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to jazz clubs across Asia. Her most recent release, You Know Exactly What You're Doing, can be found on all major streaming platforms.

Chloe: London born singer-songwriter Chloe creates soulful, emotional melodies that weave together narratives of life and love. Since moving to Lisbon in 2023 she released her debut EP 'WORDS' which is available now on all streaming platforms.

7.00pm - Doors open. Grab a drink and say hello before the music starts.

7.20pm - The music is due to begin. Chairs are first come, first serve but we also have plenty of standing and floor seating space available. Two artists will perform with a short interval in between.

9.00pm - The show should be finished, feel free to grab a final night-cap and browse our books before we close at 9.30pm.

Classics Book Club – April Edition

Join us for a deep dive into the art of translation. Our very own Tosia and Ricardo will be leading the conversation and will focus on slow reading of Portuguese literature and exploring its translation into English.

 Don’t miss this chance to explore the beauty - and challenges - of bringing portuguese to life in a new language!

We want to tackle the subject of community translation, translating as a group, and the perks and challenges of this activity. We will warm up with some “words to image” challenges, embracing artistic expression and most importantly, having fun!

You don't need to bring anything, but it may be useful to have with you something to write with, such as a notebook or laptop. Any linguistic aids are welcomed, like traditional dictionaries.

Anyone from creative writers and translators to curious readers and bilinguals.

Translating Portuguese Literature

Join us for an evening of poetry, creativity, and community at Good Company Bookstore, as we welcome The Blue Orange Poets to host a special Open Mic Poetry Night. Whether you're a poet, a poetry lover, or simply curious, this is an opportunity to share words, listen, and connect with fellow literary enthusiasts.

The evening will begin with readings by three members of The Blue Orange Poets, offering a taste of their work before opening the floor. Then, it's time for the open mic - a space for anyone who wishes to share their poetry in a warm and welcoming environment.

If you’d like to perform, please prepare 1 or 2 poems, ideally originals. Both English and Portuguese poetry are welcome. Not a performer? No problem! You’re more than welcome to attend and enjoy the readings as part of the audience.

The Blue Orange Poets are a Stanza group under the umbrella of The Poetry Society UK, originally founded in 2011. They meet monthly, usually in Cascais/Estoril, to share and critique each other's work, as well as to give readings when inspired or invited. This month, we’re thrilled to welcome them to Good Company Bookstore for a special poetry night.

This event is for anyone with a love of poetry - whether you’re a seasoned poet, an aspiring writer, or simply a poetry enthusiast who enjoys listening to spoken word.
