Note from the moderators
I’m Tosia Ostojska, events coordinator and moderator of Lusophone Book Club in Good Company. Born and raised in Poland, yet I am deeply passionate about the Portuguese language literature and culture, from Brazil to Mozambique. I will have the pleasure of conducting the talk with Bruna Dantas Lobato together with Professor Ana Margarida Abrantes. Ana is a Professor of Languages and Culture Studies at the Faculty of Human Sciences since 2012 and senior researcher at CECC-Research Center for Communication and Culture of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa since 2007. I had an opportunity to take Professor Ana’s class “Translation & Creativity” which ignited my curiosity and encouraged me to experiment with translation process and research.
With Bruna Dantas Lobato, we will discuss creativity as a fascinating vessel to a deeper understanding of translation process, and writing. We will briefly touch on recently translated by Bruna: There’s No Point in Dying, a novel by Francisco Maciel and her self-translated debut novel Blue Light Hours.
Come discuss with us; bring doubts, wonders and questions and join the roundtable!
