Join us on Sunday morning with your kids to explore their creativity with our lovely host Margarida!
While the name suggests throwing things at the wall, we won’t be literally throwing things; instead, the goal is to give way to chance, just as the idiom implies. This workshop provides a space for creative exploration through mixed media, combining different supports and tools: pencils, watercolors, markers, and more. We are not limited to conventional materials, we can use anything to see what sticks.
Creative Roadmap:
● The Base: The process begins by painting the background with watercolors;
● The Transition: A hair dryer is used to dry the base quickly, preparing it for the next layer;
● The Stamp Lab: Creation of custom stamps;
● Layering & Composition: Finally, on top of the watercolor background, participants will use collage techniques and stamps to bring their stories to life.
Examples
To better illustrate the "trial and error" process, the workshop takes inspiration from the work of Ferreira Gullar, specifically his project Zoologia Bizarra. The video showcases Gullar’s creative process, where he transforms random scraps of paper, mail, invitations, and previous works into fantastic creatures. The author explains that his compositions are born from chance rather than a pre-planned sketch. By moving a scrap of paper around, it is possible to see a beak, a wing, or a tail, allowing the material itself to dictate the final result. Each participant will develop a short story and attempt to transpose a segment of that story onto paper. Through the use of mixed media techniques, everyone will build their own unique composition.

About Margarida, the host:
Originally from Almada, Margarida was the student who would fill every margin of her notebooks with sketches and doodles. What began as a creative escape during lessons soon evolved into a vocation. Today, Margarida teaches children and young artists how to draw, sculpt, and paint.
She holds a Degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts (University of Lisbon) and has since established a professional career dedicated to art education. Her experience spans diverse environments, from extracurricular programs and creative workshops to teaching in public schools, allowing her to engage with a wide range of age groups and socioeconomic backgrounds, from Preschool to Middle School.
Despite her professional path, she remains a student at heart; her enthusiasm for art is ever-evolving, and she continues to expand her craft, currently exploring the intricate world of Jewelry.

By Bike: If you're using the Gira public bicycles, there is a docking station right across the street (#431 - Rua do Arco Cego / Av. Magalhães Lima).
By Car: There is a paid parking lot across the street, between Rua Arco do Cego and Rua Dona Filipa de Vilhena. Street parking is also available around the neighborhood.
