Here at Good Company, we are passionate about translations, especially of Lusophone authors. That's why we wanted to start this book club, to further our community by exploring the multicultural literary traditions, and the beauty of the Portuguese language.
Book of the Month
This month, we'll be reading The Return by Dulce Maria Cardoso.
About the Book: A powerful coming-of-age story, set against the violent backdrop of decolonisation and the return to an old homeland.
Get Your Copy: Readers are welcome to read in both the Portuguese original and the English translation, allowing for a dynamic discussion that encompasses not only the book's themes but also translation as a topic in itself. Copies of the English translation are available for purchase both in-store and on our website. If you would like to read it in Portuguese, we encourage you to visit one of the many wonderful independent bookstores around Lisbon.
