Wines from France and Italy: Written with Minimal Intervention

September 5, 202618:00

Wine Tasting in Good Company of Caverna do Vinho - Two estates. One glass. Come find the overlap!

Some wine stories begin in the same place. This one begins far apart — and somehow ends up in the same glass.

On September 5th, we’re bringing together two estates from two very different corners of Europe, connected by an unexpected common thread. Both estates were built from scratch by winemakers trained in Burgundy who left to make something entirely their own: natural wines, made with as little intervention as possible, letting the “terroir” speak for itself.

In the Corbières, in the south of France, Laetitia Ourliac and Rodolphe Gianesini farm Carignan, Grenache and Syrah organically at Fond Cyprès. Old vines, a wild Mediterranean landscape, and soils rich in limestone. Their wines are fresh, expressive, and made with no shortcuts and minimal intervention.

Far away, in Gradoli, central Italy, Gianmarco Antonuzzi and Clémentine Bouveron work the volcanic soils of Le Coste, growing indigenous Italian varieties using biodynamic farming — organic farming taken a step further, following the rhythms of nature. Their bottles have become some of the most talked-about names in Italy’s natural wine movement.

Different countries, grapes and soils. Same philosophy: touch the wine as little as possible, and let the place, the vintage and the grape do the talking.

Two estates. One glass. Come find the overlap.

Hosted by Leandro Alencar, with wines presented by Caverna do Vinho.
