Professional cartoonist and graphic novelist Emily McGovern (aka @emilyscartoons) will teach you the fundamental steps of making a comic. In this 2h30 session, you'll get personalised tips and feedback as you create your very own one-page comic story!
This workshop will focus on turning an ordinary story or anecdote from your own life into a one-page illustrated comic. Whether it's a funny interaction you had on the metro, a snatch of conversation, or a quiet moment with a pet, making comics about your own life is a wonderful way of preserving memories.
What to expect from this event?
Emily will give you a quick primer on the fundamental steps of making a comic, and then offer you personal guidance and tips during a 1h30 drawing session where you will create your own story. At the end of the session, anyone who wants to share their work with the group is welcome to!
What do you need to bring?
You will need to bring something to draw on (paper/sketchbook) and something to draw with (pencils, eraser and pen recommended).
Who is this event for?
Anyone who is interested in learning how to write and draw a visual story, or who would like to get back to drawing.
Minimum age 12.
No previous drawing experience necessary.
