Join us with your kids for a creative and fun Art Workshops on Sunday morning at Good Company Bookstore!
Our workshop arises as an extension of the reading sessions that take place on Saturday mornings at Good Company Bookstore. The objective is to give body to the inner world of each participant, whether from the stories heard the previous week or from the need to transpose their own fantasies into shapes, colors, and textures.
The day begins like any other. You leave home on your way to work and, when you reach your car, you find yet another advertising flyer tucked under the windscreen wiper. Later, you stop by the gym to ask about memberships and are handed another leaflet. That same evening, you go to the theatre and bring home a cultural programme. The weekend arrives and you finally make time to tidy the pantry; at the very back, you discover leftover wrapping paper from Christmas. And the kids need to make a poster for school due on Monday, and you already know the living room is about to fill up with scraps and offcuts.
I could keep adding to this list, but I think you've got the idea. The truth is that paper accumulation is such a common phenomenon that it almost deserves its own support group. We all keep that leaflet, that beautiful piece of wrapping paper, or that sheet of card with potential for a future project that never quite happens. Faced with this shared reality, there are several possible solutions. The most obvious one would be to throw everything away. However, there is always creative potential in what many people call rubbish. So, I invite you to bring along those papers that have been forgotten in drawers, cupboards and boxes around the house and give them a new purpose.
By combining those relics with my own private collection of paper scraps, we will cut everything into small pieces and create a mosaic composition using nothing but white glue.
Throughout the workshop, adults and children will work side by side. In the end, each family will take home the mosaic they created together.
Creative Journey
● Choose one of the cardboards and a sheet of paper to serve as a base.
● Glue the paper onto the cardboard or apply a layer of white glue directly onto the
surface. Select the papers. Cut, tear, or shred them into small pieces.
● Glue each fragment in the place where it belongs.
● Finish with a layer of white glue to protect and even out the surface.
● While the piece is drying, take the opportunity to go up to the café, have a pastry, and
check out the bookstore.
● In the end, you take your creation home.
Tickets for the event
The event has a cost of 7 euros (+tax). We ask that you make the reservation in advance so we can prepare enough materials for all the little artists. Please select how many adults will accompany. If you cannot attend, we ask that you cancel your ticket so that others can join.
What are we going to do?
Each session is unique and offers a structured script, designed to guide each child in the exploration of the contours of their imagination. We are going to discover different themes, techniques, and supports in each encounter. Here, we demystify the idea of "not having a knack" or "I can't" and we celebrate experimentation as an essential part of the process.
What do you need to bring?
Nothing special, just bring your curiosity! We provide all the necessary materials to materialize ideas into physical creations.
Who is this event for?
This workshop is for all children who want to expand their creative horizons through art. So that they feel safe and integrated, parents and caregivers are welcome to accompany the sessions.
A note from the hostess
The project is open to suggestions! Our hostess, Margarida, will be attentive to the tastes and proposals of each child, in order to shape her offer to our little artists.
