Join Alex, host of Queer Book Club, for an evening of discussion about queer radical care and its manifestations in literature!
What can you expect from the salon?
This salon is brought to you as an extension of a beautiful community created around the Queer Book Club. A space where important topics are discussed, friendships are being made and queer literature is being studied. This time we gather to talk about queer radical care and its manifestations in literature, while building connections and sipping on delicious tea.
What do you need to bring?
We encourage you to bring a piece of writing around the theme of queer radical care, like mutual aid, chosen family, community healing, resistance or imaginative futures. Bring an essay, a poetry collection, a single poem, an article, a short story, a fiction excerpt, or anything that you feel fits the theme. The piece can also be your own.
The formats we will be exploring and rough timings of each:
Roundtables 6pm - 7pm
Each group will be provided with a short text by queer authors around the aforementioned theme, and will have an insight on the different literary manifestations of radical care. We encourage you to look closely, discuss and exchange your thoughts in an intimate group format.
Silent(ish!) Reading Time 7pm - 8pm
Books on the topic will be provided, but we also encourage you to bring your own book. You can read it yourself, or swap it with someone else. You can get to know the other participants and share your knowledge around the books, or just be in the presence of a welcoming community while you read.
Open Mic 8pm - 9pm
Now is the time to read that piece of writing you brought, and share it with the community!
Tickets
Ticket is 3 euro and includes a cup of tea!
